Give so much, O God, suffice to envelop my clan

God give me so much that my family I can feed
And give enough character to control my greed
God give me so much that guest doesn’t go unfed.
Enough that I eat and my dog eats half the bread.


God you know very well how much do I need
You know every fruit that comes out of a seed
I do not wish beyond what I can ever manage
I wish to travel light without a knot on my baggage.


Give me enough strength that I don’t have to beg
I don’t need anything; spare my two hands and leg
God if you can do any favour then bestow this one

Great saint Kabir feels that begging is like dying. Even in Sikh religion begging is like a sin. However we have to be humble enough to seek this favour from God to give us the strength to be able to give than to take.
